FlixFix Movie Theater App
FlixFix works with local movie theaters to provide a streamlined way for users to find movies, purchase tickets, and book seats online.
Date :
November 2022 to April 2023
Role:
Visual designer, researcher

Challenge
How can we make the process of purchasing tickets and reserving seats more accessible to all?
Research
Research was completed by taking a small sample of users from various walks of life and completing survey questions by assuming answers based on the lifestyle of those users. Many users had children or busy lifestyles that could benefit from a more streamlined ease of access to various activities such as dining and travel.
Pain Points

Design
Ideation
Paper wireframes were kept simple and clean to address user pain points. Elements could be easily adjusted without affecting the rest of the design. Home screen prioritizes movie trailers and advertisements for new showings.

Digital Wireframes
Original digital wireframes were created using the preferred elements from original ideation sketches and paper wireframes. User research helped to guide certain elements toward simplicity and accessibility
When designing, accessibility was a huge priority. I wanted pages to be easy to understand, and even easier to navigate.

Prototypes
Low-fidelity prototype
The low-fidelity prototype connects the user through the primary flow of selecting a movie, a time, and booking seats. A straightforward approach to the user flow allowed us to test the app in usability studies.

Studies and Testing
The first usability study was performed on low-fidelity prototypes. This helped to determine the direction of design for the high-fidelity model. The second study was performed using the hi-fidelity prototype, and helped to guide revisions for the final iteration.
